Leonardo Mezzalira studied in Music Composition and Forest and Environmental Sciences in Padova (Italy) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Music Composition and Performance in a joint doctoral program coordinated by the Conservatory of Pescara (Italy). He is currently based in Graz (Austria) and works as a composer and artist-researcher, presenting his music and his research in several contexts. His works received several prizes and were performed at several music festivals in Europe and in the USA, among which: Festival Luigi Nono (Venezia, Italy), impuls (Graz, Austria), EstOvest festival (Cuneo, Italy), CAMPGround (FL, USA), Festival Cristofori (Padova, Italy), Bled Contemporary Music Week (Bled, Slovenia), IlSuono Contemporary Music Week (Sansepolcro, Italy), Bisbee Woman’s Club (AZ, USA), etc. In the past he also worked as musical journalist, piano accompanist and music teacher, and in 2019 he founded Taverna Maderna, a contemporary music collective and association based in Padova.
