Leonardo Mezzalira studied Music Composition and Forest and Environmental Sciences in Padova (Italy) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Music Composition and Performance in a joint doctoral program coordinated by the Conservatory of Pescara (Italy). He is based in Padova and works as a composer and artist-researcher, presenting his music and his research in national and international contexts. His works received several prizes and were performed at several music festivals in Europe and in the USA, among which: EstOvest festival (Cuneo, Italy), ISCM New Music Miami (FL, USA), Festival Luigi Nono (Venezia, Italy), impuls (Graz, Austria), CAMPGround (FL, USA), Festival Cristofori (Padova, Italy), Bled Contemporary Music Week (Bled, Slovenia), IlSuono Contemporary Music Week (Sansepolcro, Italy), Arizona State University (AZ, USA), outHEAR (Thessaloniki, Greece) etc. He also worked as musical journalist, piano accompanist and teacher, and in 2019 he founded the contemporary music collective and association Taverna Maderna.
